Canon PIXMA iP1880 Orange Light Blinking



Have you encounter printing problems in Canon PIXMA iP1880? First of all, you have ensure that the cable is connected and the printer is on. Still can't print? Then you have to look for the "symptom", for instance, blinking light. There are 2 light signals for Canon PIXMA iP1880.  If the printer is ready and during normal status, only the yellow light will appear (it won't blink).

If you spot blinking light, means there is an error occur. When the orange light appear,  it's probably insufficient paper or something related to the ink catridge. When you get the orange light blinking all the way, eventhough paper is load, ink catridge is not empty, it is probably the printer recongized the ink catridge as empty (although it's not empty!).
Some will suggest using the printer reset software (mostly for Windows user). Before you busy searching for the reset software, try to following.

Press and hold on to the resume button (the button beside the orange light) for about 6 seconds and let go. The printer now should be able to be in the stable normal state. If fail, do try again and hold the resume button for a longer time.

I've tested this on a Canon PIXMA iP1880 connected to Ubuntu Linux 7.04, and it worked.

    Hi lito,

    Yes of course, you can download Canon PIXMA ip1880 driver from Canon's official website here. Choose the driver that correspond to your OS.

    my printer canon ip 1880 light is shinning both yellow and orange.
    i have tried to turn off and turn on the printer. but the problem is stiil the same. can u give me some opinion?

    Hi evon,
    I'm not sure what problem cause those lights blinking. It might be waste ink full. You can bring your printer to the nearest Canon service center for servicing. If your printer is still under warranty, repair is free of charge. But if it's the waste ink full problem, you will be charged a small sum regardless of the warranty period.

    my canon ip1880 printer lights were blinking four times orange and one time for yellow, it wont print. anyone can give me idea how to do or what to do?

    When i printing a pages of document, 2 or more papers will come out with the 1st paper in the same time...then the printer will jam.....how to solve this problem???

    As it turned out, it was almost out of ink, but at least I got this printing done - off to buy a new cartridge!
